The CAPE AIR - SPIRIT JETWAY PROGRAM is designed to get you to your dream faster. The program is a defined career pathway designed to create a faster and more streamlined approach for pilots looking to transition from a regional carrier to a major airline.
Cape Air pilots are recognized throughout the industry as being the best trained, hardest working pilots around, and Spirit Airlines has seen the value in bringing our Captains onto their team. We have long known that the PIC experience gained while flying for Cape Air is extremely valuable time, and we are thrilled to have this pathway that recognizes the ability of our pilots to transition directly to a national airline.
The new partnership with Spirit allows all current and future Cape Air Captains to qualify for a single interview transition to become a new hire First Officer at Spirit Airlines.
The accelerated steps
How does a Captain qualify for a transition to Spirit? The process has been made simpler and faster than other programs.
A Captain must be in good standing and pass an initial interview with the Spirit hiring committee.
Although a 2- or 4-year college degree is preferred, it is not required.
Once accepted into the program, you will be assigned a Spirit mentor who will be invested in your success at Cape Air.
After a minimum of 2 years as a Captain, the successful completion of a Spirit-developed “Jet Transition Course”, and with 3000 hours total time, you will be offered a class date at Spirit with no further interview!
