PILOT PAY

Learn, Earn, and Pursue your Passion for Flying

A typical direct-entry Captain can expect to earn around $80,000 in their first year at Cape Air. Pilots who spend one year as a First Officer before upgrading can expect to earn around $90,000 in their first year as a Captain.

While most airline pay rates for pilots vary based on time spent on the ground and time spent in the air (block time), Cape Air pays pilots the same rate for every hour they are on duty (duty hour). This means your rate of pay is the same on the ground as it is in the air – making your income secure and predictable.

Our $80,000 - $90,000 pay range is based on the following assumptions:

  • 40-hour per week minimum guarantee for full-time pilots

  • An average of 3.5 hours of overtime built into weekly schedules

  • One incentive shift per pay period valued at 150% of your hourly rate and a bonus of $500 per shift add

  • A retention bonus of $5,000 is paid at the conclusion of the busy summer season
